We started Pier 347 to give you the most memorable restaurant experience possible – fabulous food in a casual, fun atmosphere.

While we would like to take credit for the Pier 347 name, it is a part of the location’s rich history. We are proud to share that history and continue the legacy of Pier 347.

The building was erected in the early 1900’s, when it was called Camp Tisch. They rented small boats from the pier and used the upstairs for lodging. Around 1920, the building became a restaurant and resort, and the name changed to Wegerman’s Resort. At that time, mail was delivered by boat to lakeshore residents and the address was Pier 347. When the basement was converted to a bar it was called Pier 347. Around 1941, the building was purchased by the Tenckhoffs, who ran it as a bar and restaurant. In the early 1960’s, the Gilberts bought the building and renovated the first floor, converting the establishment to a finer bar and restaurant. About a decade later, they sold the establishment to the Grenowskis, who continued to run it as a bar and restaurant called La Chalet. The Grenowskis later sold the property to the Kleczkas, who ran it under the same name as a bar specializing in sandwiches and a popular pizza.

This is where we come in. The Kleczkas sold the property to us in June of 2000. We decided to renovate the building and bring back its history along with the name. We felt that the nautical theme was the most appropriate (we are on a “great lake”, after all!) An emphasis on fresh seafood dishes seemed the next logical choice.  

In January of 2008, we updated the interior of the restaurant with the goal of creating an atmosphere that offered a casual year round pub feel for you to enjoy great food and spirits during all 4 seasons. We also have expanded our wine and martini list and added our Chef’s Table experience which offers you the opportunity to create your own custom menu and dining experience.

Sit back, relax, enjoy the view… but most of all have FUN!
